COCKNEY MARK   PROMOTER/ DJ

DJ Cockney Mark

I have been a DJ and Promoted Nights on and off for the last 20+ years. Run many sold-out one-off Events. I have played sets in Venues such as The Electric Ballroom, Camden/ Gossips Club, Soho/ The Borderline, Soho/ Goldsmiths College SU, New Cross/ The Underworld, Camden/ FAC 251, Manchester/ Best Before, Liverpool. The Last Club Night I ran in London was Living on Video which started in Camden moved to Electrowerx in Islington, London. And would get crowds of 200+. I ran The Thin Wall Radio which gained 45,000k listeners playing classic late 70’s and 80s Electronic Music and some modern Electropop, Darkwave and EBM, and Industrial Classics.  My main love is late 70’s early 80’s pioneering dark futuristic electronic music from the likes of Ultravox, Cabaret Voltaire, John Foxx, Gary Numan, Tubeway Army, Visage, The Human League, The Normal, Front 242, Kraftwerk, Japan, Tears For Fears, Throbbing Gristle, Depeche Mode, Soft Cell, New Order, Nitzer Ebb and many more.

I started Souvenir as there was no club night playing decent Early Electronic 80s & New Romantic music in Liverpool when I came up here in 2018.

I was first drawn to music through Adam Ant, Human League, OMD and Kraftwerk. I followed the New Romantic and Synthpop scene after that. Later I followed the Goth Rock stuff and eventually found Industrial/EBM. Lately I have been following the modern post punk/ synth stuff and it’s great to see it all coming back. For Souvenir my playlists concentrate on New Romantic/ synth classics and alt 80s which I really enjoy seeing you all dance to!’

DJ Mardygoth

Usually referred to as “Goth Mark” or “Northern Mark”, Mark is by default a metalhead who cut his teeth getting into death and black metal in 1993 – branching out over the years from bands such as The Doors and Mike Oldfield all the way through to Darkthrone, and everything else in between including 1980s new wave. Developed a taste for the gothier side of music via The Danse Society, Clan of Xymox, and Xmal Deutschland whilst attending Whitby Goth Weekend around 15 years ago. Hobbies are socialising, amateur radio, cycling, technology, high end hi-fi (I’m a keen audiophile), throwing phat Alan Partridge bass shapes, and watch collecting. Be sure you check my sets out earlier on, as I play the lesser heard stuff !
